The Jumpsuit of All Jumpsuits

If I could, I would live in jumpsuits. To those that follow my blog, I know that comes as no surprise! Their comfort, the fact that you don't need to worry about much else as far as clothing goes, and also the versatility.

I got this jumpsuit on a whim when I was in NYC the other week...it was loose, cool, and flowy enough to brave the heat!

Dressing it up crossed my mind, although the more casual style of it is more fitting to my life these days.

Taking this jumpsuit from date night to family night was as easy as swapping the heels for sandals and adding my trusty panama hat. I find myself gravitating more towards that hat and my fedora when I am out and about with my family. It's just easier and it gets me out the door quicker!

Same Shoes Different Outfit

Every summer, I usually come across a pair of shoes that I wear pretty much every day. This summer, it's these sandals from Target (in black too. Duh.). I wear them just about every day, withe very type of outfit!

They were perfect to wear with my Old Navy tunic. I wore the black and white version last week a little more casual with my distressed denim shorts. I know I wanted to pair the blue and white with my white jeggings. It was the perfect comfy but still stylish outfit.

This outfit would look super cute with white Converse as well as the sandals to give it an even more casual vibe!

Summer to Fall Transition

I know it's still ungodly hot outside, but it is that time of year to begin thinking about fall- particularly the fashion.

As much as I would love to purchase a whole new wardrobe every season, it's just not in the budget. Like ever. Unless I win the lottery. Until then, I try to find pieces that I can easily transition from summer to fall, with basic layering.

I chose two of my most worn and most transitioned pieces to style from summer to fall. Don't think that just because the season has changed you need to pack away your wardrobe!

Black Jumpsuit

This is something I have had in my wardrobe for well over a year. I have worn it both in summer and in warmer months. Transitioning it is as easy as wearing heels or ankle booties instead of sandals, and a blazer instead of a lightweight denim jacket, or nothing at all.

Utility Jacket

This is another closet staple of mine. I have a couple of different ones (varying lengths, styles). Despite the heat, I do wear them in the summer. Cooler, rainy days, crisp evenings, and just days where I feel like having an extra layer always lead me to my utility jacket. Because they tend to be more on the lightweight side, I find that I layer quite a bit when I wear it in the fall and even into the winter.

Casual Stripes

I love a good tunic, mainly because it covers my rear, which I am not going to object to! Pairing a tunic with something like a pair of leggings, skinny jeans, or jeggings is usually how I like to style them.

One simple way to get more wear out of your tunics is to tuck them in. If you can manage to do so without creating bulk underneath your pants then it can look really great!

This striped tunic from Old Navy was a great addition to my closet (I even got it in another color). While I love wearing a tunic as it's intended, I wanted to wear it now, and not have to wait until the temps cool a little!

I was headed out to dinner with friends so I knew I would be styling it pretty casually- we aren't super formal, so distressed shorts and my Converse with the perfect to pair with it. My absolute favorite part of the whole outfit though is the belt (which is now only $20! No code needed)! I think it adds the perfect finishing touch! There is something about mixing brown and black together that I just love- I never would have done that several years ago, but it has grown on me so much!

The Perfect Day with The Rittenhouse Spa

Every once in a while I am able to sneak away for the day, or part of the day to pamper myself. To be given the chance to experience a spa day at The Rittenhouse Spa & Club-Hair by Paul Labrecque was certainly welcomed, and the timing couldn't have been more perfect!

The Rittenhouse is located in Rittenhouse Square in Philly, and to me is somewhat of a landmark. Not only are they a great hotel but they have an even better spa tucked away inside.

The staff was super friendly and made me feel at home right away. I was able to put on one of their plush robes and relax in their waiting area while I waited for my massage to start. They have some great snacks and cucumber water to sip on while you wait. Who am I to turn down food?!

They have a really great variety of massages that they offer, but I had Lori give me The Rittenhouse massage. The Rittenhouse is their basic, customizable massage. Lori was great in working with my problem areas. She used some amazing lavender oil for the massage as well.

As a bonus, I had the scalp massage. O.M.G. I think I could have just had that done and been content for the rest of the day. Lori was really awesome, attentive, and she didn't talk that much, which I find to be refreshing. I don't mind chatting, but when I am getting a massage, I want to really relax. Having a masseuse who understands that makes the massage so much better! Call me crazy, but I just like silence during my massage! Thank you, Lori!

After I was spoiled with my massage, I met with Kirby. Kirby took care of me by giving me two deep conditioning treatments. I have never had these done before so I was anxious to see the results. She used a mint menthol scalp revitalizing treatment for (duh) my scalp, and for my ends she used a moisture mud mask. I had told her my main concerns this time of year (summer) is just the frizz. Fast forward 4 days and my hair still feels pretty amazing from the treatments. With the scalp treatment you also get a nice scalp/head massage!

Roxy took over then and schooled me on braids and tips on how to dry your hair!

She first suggested investing in boar bristle brushes. She said brushing your hair with them, particularly at night draws oils to the bottom of your hair, away from the roots and scalp. Combine bed time application of dry shampoo with using the boar bristle brush and you can go longer in between shampoos!

She also said using the round boar bristle brushes to not only blow dry your hair, but as curlers is a great alternative to hot rollers. It does less damage on your hair. Simply blow dry your hair as you normally would, but leave the brushes in at the root, like you see in the picture. Yes, those are round brushes on top of my head. Genius, I tell you! My hair had SO MUCH volume from that one simple trick!

We had some fun with braids, too! I explained to her how terrible I am at braiding my own hair. She suggested not looking in the mirror when you are braiding your own hair. Totally makes sense if you think about it! I get all backwards when I am looking in the mirror and trying to braid sometimes.

Our first braid was a simple side braid in the front. I was trying to take mental notes during the whole process, because I can't do anything more than just a simple, low braid. (notice the volume at my roots from using the boar bristle brushes).

Instead of leaving the braid hanging, we just looped it back up and pinned it!

The second braid was something I have always wanted to do but could never! Roxy gave me a braided crown, which looked so adorable!

Both braids are a great style alternative for summer hair. It can get so hot some days, that wearing it up is the only option. Having a cute braid is a step out of the ordinary!

Give braids a try, and don't forget to add boar bristle brushes to your daily hair routine. Your hair will be less damaged (because you won't be using hot rollers) and you will be able to last longer between shampoos!

Thank you so much to everyone at The Rittenhouse Spa & Club-Hair by Paul Labrecque! If you are ever in the Philly area, or live in the area, make it a point to go! Lori (in the spa), Kirby and Roxy are amazing!
