A Little High Five

Hey ladies!!!

I am linking up with Lauren today for High Five for Friday!

I am super excited for this weekend. First, my daughter Charlotte Adele (not after the singer) is getting baptized. She is wearing a baptism gown that was first worn in the 1940's in my family, including me. I think its pretty awesome :) She will also be wearing a baptism bonnet that my older daughter Ella wore, and was once my wedding handkerchief. I am hoping one day it will be used by both of my girls on their wedding day :)

This is Ella, September 2008. She looks like a child out of the 1800's!

Next...this face. He always squeezes between me and the counter while I am making dinner. He always gets a little snack because how can you resist this face???

Third...I was voted as a Top 25 Fashion and Beauty blog at Circle of Moms. I am so excited about this! Thank you to all who have voted! Our interviews are up on their website. Check them out here. There are a lot of great fashion/beauty mommy bloggers there!

Fourth...I am so ready for spring that I just can't stand it! I am particularly looking at these swimsuits from Anthro. Why I don't know because I am the farthest thing away from being ready to be in a bathing suit!!

Lastly, I went to the dentist this week for the first time in four years (go ahead...judge away) and I have no cavities. What I thought was weird was one of the questions on the form I had to fill out ahead of time...

Yes, I would actually like to keep all of my teeth all of my life. That's the plan!! hehehe :)

That' all, folks! Hope you have a great weekend...see you back here on Monday!!

Essie Repstyle Nail Polish Review

I was looking for something new to try for my nails the other day and I stumbled on the Essie Repstyle Collection at Target.

I thought it looked interesting...you know the whole, comes with a magnet that makes your nail polish look like a reptile thing.

Here is what you get...

The black square is the magnet that you need to use. Here is what you have to do:

1. Paint one coat of nail polish on one nail. Once that is dry then apply your second coat.
2. While the nail polish is still wet (so immediately after you paint) hold the magnet as close to the nail as possible for 5 seconds.
3. Move on to the next nail and repeat.
4. Apply top coat.

Or for you visual learners...

It goes on just like any other nail polish, and looks like any other nail polish. The change is obviously when you hold the magnet over the polish. Here is what the finished product looks like (my daughter even wanted in on the action):

It comes in several colors, so you do have some options to choose from:

My overall thought was that they were just ok. I am not sure is was worth the $10.99 that I spent at Target. Although an old man (one of my customers) said I had some sexy nails. He also drives a convertible with a giant sticker that says "GO TOPLESS" on the top of the windshield. I can't make this stuff up, people. Anyway....

~I messed up a few times because I was trying to hold the magnet as close as possible so I did end up having to touch up a few nails!

~In order to get the reptile look on the whole nail you kind of have to move the magnet across the whole nail instead of holding it in one spot. If you do the reptile look will only go on one spot of the nail.

~It sort of  has the "reptile" look but also has just a downright blotchy look to it. It does not look as perfect as it does in the step by step picture above.

~You can use the nail polish by itself. You don't have to use the magnet each time which is a plus.

I think I could justify this purchase if it were just a little bit cheaper, but I don't think I will be spending the $10.99 to get any other colors!! Sorry, Essie...I love your nail polish, just not the Repstyle so much!

I'm a Sucker for Stripes

This past weekend I had a few hours to myself so I headed out to do some shopping. After looking at my purchases I realized two things: Stripes are pretty big this spring and I am a sucker for them!

The majority of the pieces I picked up were striped, and I am so excited to wear them. Its funny, because I am all about making myself look as tiny as possible, and we all know horizontal stripes don't really do that!

The first piece is the awesome striped moto jacket from Gap. It was a last minute purchase...one that I am glad I made! I can't wait to pair it with my bright green Stella and Dot Jolie Necklace. I am definitely looking forward to making it a staple in my wardrobe this spring. Perfect for days that are just a little crisp!

I also got this blazer at Gap as well...they are rocking the stripes right now!

Here are some other fab stripes to check out....

Hopefully you like stripes, because they are definitely here to stay this spring. Not a huge fan? No biggie! Incorporate stripes (or any pattern for that matter) into your outfit in a subtle way with accessories like jewelry, a scarf or even your shoes. You can still sport this season's trends even if you aren't that in love with it!

What are some other spring trends you are looking forward to?

Linking up today with Molly today for YOLO! Have a great day!

My Mama Style

A lot has changed since becoming a Mommy to Ella almost 5 years ago and then also Charlotte 4 months ago.

One of those things that sort of hasn't changed too, too much has been my style. I wouldn't say it has changed, just sort of modified and molded to this new lifestyle.

These are a few basics that I cannot live without in my closet and are a definitely must for my own mama style!

1. First off, a basic blazer. This is something that is a major staple in my closet...as you can see from my multiple posts!!

One of the main things I love about blazers is how they can change the look of any outfit. Just have a basic t shirt? Dress it up with a blazer. And they can be so comfy too. Something so versatile and so chic!!

2. Leggings or skinny jeans/jeggings. I need something I can move in, people!! Something I can wear to meetings or roll around on the floor playing with  my girls. Bonus for leggings? So comfy to lounge in!

3. Lastly, scarves are my best friend. As you can see from several of the outfits above and the one below, I love a good scarf. They, like blazers, can change the whole look of an outfit. Check out my post on my love of scarves. Not to mention, its an inexpensive piece to add to your closet!

What are your favorite pieces in your closet? Ones you can't live without?

Linking up today with other fab mama's to share our personal style!
